ABOUT TA-NOW

Our mission is introducing TA to as many people as possible and educating those who are ready for it.  Our curriculum is described in the Opportunities section.  Please consider the variety of learning experiences we have developed with our mission in mind.  Most of them are available on Zoom, so distance leaves no one out.  Remember, learning TA is an adventure, and applying TA is a journey.  We are here to help you on the path and celebrate your progress.

Our educational philosophy recognizes that Adults already have a lot of knowledge, beliefs, and experiences. So, in addition to providing content, we guide learning activities that leverage quality relational connections among learners to help everyone determine how to make TA work for them.

TA HISTORY

Transactional analysis was founded by Eric Berne, M.D., born in 1910.  He studied as a psychoanalyst and began publishing on topics that would become identified with transactional in 1947.  Beginning in the early 1950s, Berne and his associates conducted a weekly seminar from which several future TA thought leaders emerged.

In 1957, Berne formally introduced TA when presenting a paper to the American Group Psychotherapy Association entitled Transactional Analysis: A New and Effective Method of Group Therapy.  In 1964 Berne published Games People Play, which became a landmark and popularized TA.

The International TA Association was founded in 1964.  Following Berne’s death in 1970, a decade of mass popularity and innovation unfolded.  Since the early 1980’s, TA has continued to grow internationally and benefitted by further innovation and consolidation of theory of practice.
